My computer would have ran away from me long ago if it wasn’t for these spectacular programs.
This program scans your computer for unused temporary files and other junk your programs have been saving up. It also empties the recycle bin - if you want it to. The beauty here is that you can tell it what to delete. I usually get 2 gigs of hard drive space after running this.
A mysterious program that finds anything and everything that is running, will be running, or could be running. Then, it ranks the dll files or applications based on their possible threat. STM has taken care of problems that Ad-Aware or Spybot didn’t. A must have.
The best hard drive scanner available. After scanning your computer for all files, this program then graphs your hard drive with boxes that corelate to the relative size of your files. And the boxes are colorcoded so you know what kind of file it is. So, if you need some extra space, you just delete the big squares. Confusing? Check this program out, it makes everything easier. Even your math homeowrk.
Can find deleted or lost files. Especially useful for floppy drives (not that anybody has those, but….)
Only recommended for those who have a lot of other programs, F&RR makes it ten times easier to launch an application. What it does is search the start menu and desktop for shortcuts or applications and then will launch them. So, if you, like I do, have a bajillion apps installed, rather than having a desktop full of icons, you can just have a super folder somewhere that is easily searchable. Just press alt+enter and start typing. F&RR also is extremely customizable to your needs.
This program makes it really easy to turn off your computer. None of this waiting around for Windows stuff.
Probably not the best, but its free and it works. Allows for a variety of ways to rename files, and its works well for mp3s.
If you have multiple email addresses and hate using webmail (me) then this is for you. It also aggregates RSS feeds, allows for POP3 and IMAP, has a spam blocker, and cooks meals. Well, not really on that last one, but it should.
